Smell-O-vision
Get this.. Smell-o-vision was real!
In 1960, the mystery film Scent of Mystery was released, featuring the one and only use of Smell-O-Vision, a system that timed odors to points in the film's plot. It was the first film in which aromas were integral to the story, providing important details to the audience.
Unfortunately, the mechanism didn't really work - the aromas were released with a distracting hissing noise and audience members complained that the scents reached them several seconds after the action was shown on the screen.
Technical adjustments solved these problems, but by then it was too late. Negative reviews, in conjunction with word of mouth, caused the film to fail miserably.
Comedian Henny Youngman quipped, "I didn't understand the picture. I had a cold."

Martin Solveig v Bob Sinclair
This shot was taken at the French Open, where DJ's Solveig and Sinclair played off in an exhibition match for charity..
I love Bob Sinclair's Agassi-inspired gear; the vintage Nike polo shirt right, stonewashed denim short shorts and the fluoro bike shorts underneath.

Art Thief (Kinda)
Sam Leach is an Australian artist who won the this years Archibald prize, and more recently the $25,000 Wynne prize for landscape painting. But his winning painting, titled Proposal for Landscape Cosmos, somewhat resembles a 17th century Dutch painting. What do you think?
Leach's painting is the one on the right; clearly crappier than his Dutch predecessors.
Plagiarism, forgery, blatant rip-off, or an 'appropriation'?

Who Let the Dogman Out?
Some of you might be familiar with ACA's 'dogman' (original clip here) who was chased by an angry dog near his house.
Here's a great little remix.

All The Best
A couple people have asked me about the radio show i've been working with. It's called All The Best, and its a pretty cool new show on FBi (thats 94.5 on your dial) every Saturday between 10 and 12 in the AM. It's all about Sydney; the greatest bits, the weirdest bits, the nicest bits, the newest bits - all the bits.
It's even got its own blog with the best bits so far!
Its a magazine show - with some pretty exciting radio-journalism, some interviews, and some fiction pieces, all based around Sydney. The show's only been on the air for a couple weeks, but its slowly developing, finding its niche and hopefully will keep evolving into something pretty special.
It's a pretty different concept to what you usually on the radio, heavily influenced by a Chicago-based show, This American Life.
So check out the blog and let me know what you think, or tell me if you have any good ideas to cover..
And hopefully I'll have some content on the air in the next couple weeks..
